Respect Life Ministry
Our Respect Life Ministry hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
The 1st Sunday of October we attend the Pro Life Prayer Chain in front of Belleview City Hall from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
The 2nd Sunday of October we have our Celebrate Life Event in the social hall at noon. We have lunch, raffles, and a cake walk. Donations of diapers, wipes and other baby items are collected for the Alpha Center for Women. All proceeds we receive from the raffles are given to Alpha Center, as well. Our ministry also sponsors a Trunk or Treat near Halloween. Look for information in the bulletin or call the parish office about this event.
In January is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We come together to pray for the unborn and remember the millions of children who have been aborted. We also have our baby bottle boomerang in January. Parishioners are given a baby bottle to fill with change, cash or a check. We collect the bottles for three weeks and then give them to the Alpha Center for Women.
In February, we sell candy around Valentine’s Day to help us support our ministry and the Alpha Center. WE host Pancake Breakfast a few times a year to help fundraise for our various activities. We are always looking for volunteers to help promote life. Please contact the parish office.
On Our Role in the Defense of Life (Saint Pope John Paul II)
“Christ needs you to enlighten the world and to show it the “path of life” (Psalm 16:11). The challenge is to make the Church’s “yes” to Life concrete and effective. The struggle will be long, and it needs each one of you. Place your intelligence, your talents, your enthusiasm, your compassion and your fortitude at the service of life!” (Homily on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1993)
