Parish History


 1983 — On June 15th, 1983 — Bishop Thomas J. Grady of our Diocese created a new Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary with Fr. Sean Shine as the Pastor. The Sunday Masses were celebrated at the Silver Springs Shores Community Center and daily Masses were in the rectory.

1986 — January 12th — The first building was dedicated by Bishop Grady to serve as a church and social hall.

1992 — February 23rd — Bishop Norbert Dorsey dedicated the Marian Center which contains an office, seven classrooms, kitchen and youth group meeting room.

1996 — March 25th — As the parishioners increased a new church was built and dedicated by Bishop Dorsey.

1998 — Immaculate Heart of Mary Grotto was constructed.

2000 — Father Sean Shine retired in June.

2000 — August 1st — Father Steven Philips was assigned as the new Pastor until September 30th, 2005.

2005 — November 17th — Father Felicito Baybay was appointed the Pastor until November 2014 when he retired.

2014 — November 29th — Father Joseph Bui was appointed the Parochial Administrator until June 30, 2017.

2017 — July 1st — Bishop John Noonan assigned Father Stephen Ejike Nduka Ogonwa (Fr. Seno) to Immaculate Heart of Mary as the new Parochial Administrator. Rev. Stephens brings his love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God and the Eucharist to our parish with his loving smile. Pray for his apostolate at Immaculate Heart of Mary to be enriched and successful.

2024 - May 25th - Father Philip R. Mill was ordained a priest at Mary Queen of the Universe Orlando. He also celebrated his Thanksgiving Mass, May 25th at the 4pm Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary.
